BUCHAREST, June 4, 2021 – AIPS Executive Committee member Emanuel Fântâneanu has announced the launch of his new book which he wrote in collaboration with Magda Petrescu.
ENCYCLOPEDIA The book, comprising three volumes, restores the long and rich history of Romanian gymnastics. It is the first history of Romanian gymnastics ever written. An encyclopedia boasting a huge amount of work and 11 years of research – years that cannot be quantified in any way.
RENOWNED AUTHOR Fântâneanu is a renowned journalist and author in Romania. He is a former president of the Sports Press Association of Romania, a member, and former media director of the Romanian Olympic Committee, National Agency for Sports, and a former personal press advisor of the Secretary of State in the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, among many other titles.
FIRST EDITION On the occasion of the European Championships, which took place in Cluj, in 2017, Fantaneanu launched the first edition of “Inscriptions on the Romanian Gymnastics Column” in double format (classic and electronic) – 1600 pages Romanian gymnastics history.
SECOND EDITION It has been four years since then – a period in which new information, facts, and events have been gathered. The outcome is a second edition with a largely changed structure – a revised and expanded version of “Inscriptions on the Romanian Gymnastics Column”. The 1600 pages of the first edition have tripled, adding new information and illustrations about a sports phenomenon called gymnastics, hence the need for three volumes.
CONTENT Volume 1 recounts the history of universal gymnastics and its new organizational structures (international and national) and explores the road traveled by this sport, starting from the past centuries until today.
The next two volumes will include recollections of the great international competitions Romania has participated in, from the first to the present ones, with their great successes and deep defeats.
